1. Does Fixed Gear Freestyle Suck?
This was the top post of the year by a long long way. When I posted it a few ‘big names’ got all upset and deleted me on Facebook and stuff like that which I don’t quite understand. All I can think is that they have no sense of humour whatsoever because this is clearly a tongue-in-cheek post, it’s set out like a court case for crying out loud!!! Can’t I have a laugh? Are barspins that serious???

At the start of the year I was really into fixed gear freestyle, I tried it, I sucked, I moved on. I do still like it but there is a huge divide between people that can do the few possible tricks and the people that  really shred. I know that even the people who are super into it think a lot of it sucks, I posed the question “Does Fixed Gear Freestyle Suck?” and the answer is “Yes, a lot of it does” but then modern skateboarding REALLY sucks now, it doesn’t mean that some of it isn’t awesome, I look forward to seeing where fixed freestyle will be this time next year. Original post…

I will continue to nit pick (both for real, for a laugh, and a bit of both) in 2012, if you don’t like opinions then stick to the pretty pictures on your fixie Tumblrs.

99% of the fixed gear blogs just repost from Prolly, simple as. I will continue to not do that, so when you visit this blog you know that you’re gonna see something you haven’t already seen a hundred times.

There’s gonna be more roadie content throughout the year. Evolution not revolution.

I spotted this photo on Pedal Consumption today, what are those shoes up in the top left? DVS Luster x Cinelli in white???

The European stock of the black and grey ones has been super tight and that is the first time I’ve seen them in white, maybe they are an addition to the range to keep up with the demand? They aren’t in the Winter 11 or spring 12 DVS catalogues. Interesting.

The new Inmate Cadence will be available soon, maybe even next month…

The DVS Cycling Fall 11 shoes are slowly but surely arriving at Nucleus. We have decent size runs of the Rico CT x Cadence in Grey and Port and the Luster Cinelli in Grey. Stock is seriously limited and as far as I can tell we are the only place in Europe selling these online so if you want them I’d suggest you don’t put it off. I present to you the Cadence DVS 3636 which is the spring 2012 collab between DVS Cycling and Cadence, obviously. The collaborative shoes from these guys have been getting more and more slimline since the first shoe, they couldn’t really get any slimmer.

They are made out of thin perforated garment leather with a thin, yet relatively stiff outsole. Detailing has been kept to an absolute minimum with just a DVS tag on the side and a Cadence logo on the back. No reflectors, no bells and whistles, just comfort.

These really aren’t the sort of thing I’d wear but they will be super popular because this kind of shoe is so hot right now and I’m sure they still will be in Spring 2012 too.

I got a lovely present in the post today, cheers DVS, I luv u! These Rico CT Cadence will change colour over time because of the way the canvas has been coloured, I’m looking forward to seeing what happens to mine because my shoes generally last for years in pretty good condition.
