Ed Clancy and Andy Tennant rolled out onto the boards of the Revolution track champs on the weekend on a couple of awesome custom painted Condor frames. The Edvard Munch’s Scream inspired beauty above is a corker! He’s my favourite artist, thought I’d mention that.
The frames were designed in collaboration with Condor and frame artist Chris Grove. The project aims to celebrate Clancy and Tennant’s recent success at the European Track Championships and their commitment during the road season riding for Rapha Condor Sharp.
Ed Clancy’s frame is based upon the expressionist painting by Edvard Munch. Whilst source of inspiration for the artwork is based upon Munch’s dystopia, Clancy identified the iconic piece as simply a piece of work that he’d like to see on a frameset. Chris Grove then worked along side Condor and recreated a version of the piece, painted onto the frame by hand.
Andy Tennant sought for heroic styling to his frame based upon the American Air Force. The design conjures up notions of team spirit and commitment, reflecting Andy’s attitude as part of a successful team.
“World Class riders need world class equipment and we’ve been delighted to work with Condor on creating these two highly individual designs. We’ve been thrilled to work with them to bring their ideas to life.” Explained Chris Grove, Managing Director of Performance Race Art “PRA continues to be the choice of champions on all things relating to bike paint designs and the Condor track bike project was right up our street in terms of artistic challenge, we’ve loved doing it.”
The Condor Stadio carbon frames were made especially for the appearances of Ed Clancy and Andy Tennant at the Revolution series. Lucky ticket holders for the event, which is now sold out, will be first to catch a glimpse of the frames. Monday night’s viewers of the ITV4 highlights programme will also be able to see the frames flying round the Manchester Velodrome.
Ed Clancy rides for Rapha Condor Sharp and Team GB. Ed’s enviable palmares includes World Cup and World Championship victories and Olympic Gold. He is also former National Criterium Champion.
Former junior World Track Champion, Andy Tennant is a dominating presence in Premier Calendar road race for Rapha Condor Sharp. As a potential Olympian his sights are firmly set on the London 2012 games.
