Schwalbe Durano Skid Tyres Are Wack

I haven’t personally used the Schwalbe Durano Skid tyres but I trust the opinion of the Brother Cycles boys and they say that they are shit. We all know that some tyres are better than others, Gatorskins and Rando’s are well respected and you are unlikely to find a genuinely bad review of them but on the flip side there are a lot of tyres that just cannot hold up under the stress of skidding to stop on a fixed gear.

It’s a pretty stupid move for a well established company like Schwalbe to name a tyre ‘skid’ and claim that it can “withstand “abuse” considerably longer than other tires thanks to its deeper and abrasion resistant tread” when they can’t and are bloody expensive to boot.  I think it’s pretty fair to say you should avoid these like the plague after reading this.
