Simon, I’ve wrecked heaps of traditional hubs/cogs/lockrings, so I decided to lace up a Shaker a while ago to try it out. I know some people have had issues but mine has been incredible. I’ve had no problems at all. There are a couple of entries about it on my blog…..

The white thing is one of the new Knog locks.

Owen has snapped a couple of the spindle bolts with the Shaker hub, it’s been a right pain in the ass for him. I don’t think he’s had any trouble with the cog bolts though. Thanks for the comment, I’m sure it’ll be handy for some people :-)

What a simple idea.Why has no body thought of this befor? The lock ring system is good but was developed for track bikes. track stands and skidding on tarmack puts a load more stress on the lock-ring(which vary in quality I guess) I’ve had one slip on me in traffic,feet in straps and it aint fun.
Bolt-on cogs for me.

My Charge shaker came with really small torque key bolts which got rounded out from using a cheap key.(I had to ride em loose to get them out) if anyone has the same problem the bolts are the same as the ones that hold on MTB disc breaks.and the spindle bolts are the same as the ones that go down through a 1″8 head set.
What is that white thing?

You can actually remove the free hub body from standard cassette road wheels and replace it with one that makes it fixed.this a great idea, I’m all for standardisation. Also what’s the whist thing on your stem?
